To step
To walk
To climb
Requiring faith
The next stair will hold
That the climbing
The lifting
The reaching
Will
Get us there
Moving
Because
Standing still
Will not
Change
Our position
Climbing over the blues © 2012
Debra Jean Smith Golden
The above poem was inspired by a flutter poem I made this summer, and then became the text for that book. I wonder if some of my poems are messages or reminders to myself.
The detail shows my painting, Parade Iris with Bachelor Buttons. It's one of the acrylics on Plexiglas (about 30" x 40"), which I painted on my back porch. The blue flowers lifted my spirits. My blue paintings go for a sense of quiet, calm, or connect ion with the elements, rather than expressions of melancholy. Your reaction may be different.
The act of painting - or creation - helps get me into something larger than me and into the moment. Enjoy a work of art, a story, a performance, music that you. It heals us and connects us to each other and ourselves.
What inspires you? What heals you? What gets you into and over the blues?
Now.... time for me to get moving. Thanks for reading.
